Lenexa approves special permit for World Cup watch parties

The city of Lenexa approved a special event permit for road closure and the sale and consumption of alcohol for Pitch Lenexa’s World Cup watch parties.
Pitch Lenexa is an organization founded by eight Lenexa based companies. For the past two years, the group has collected funding from local stakeholders with intentions to showcase Lenexa during the World Cup.

Assistant City Manager and Vice President of Pitch Lenexa, Mike Nolan said the event is meant to bring the World Cup to Lenexa.
“This was an organization that was born of an opportunity that the World Cup is bringing to Kansas City ‘s doorstep and Lenexa, being a player in the Kansas City Metro as a suburb, wants to be part of that,” Nolan said.
